Back at the Lake

I made it back to Missouri. Last week's trip was fun but it is good to be back (and have power). Work has been very busy this week also. Here is a question that arose in the city: If you were standing at crosswalk and it said don't walk, but no vehicle was in sight, would you walk or stand on the corner?

Birmingham News

Hi Everyone, I'm sitting here in a hotel in Birmingham this morning. Actually killing a bit of time so rush hour can be over before Jennifer and I venture out. We are having a great time. Yesterday we took a tour of Shocco camp then Student Life, and we shopping. We went to a mall with the worlds largest skylight. It was really pretty. Today I'm sure we will have a great time also. I will be happy to get back to that lake though.

Electricity Is Great!

This has definitely been and interesting few days in Missouri.  Who would have thought four of us would end up hovering by the fire in Jennifer's living room, playing Phase 10 by lantern and roasting little smokies in the fire? Not to mention no showers or flushing. Did you know that playing 20 questions can get really old? By the way don't let Brad pick a subject or you will never get it, or just guess Sphinx. I guess I forgot the main issue HEAT. I really like it. We were huddled in blankets and still not warm. It is amazing how much we rely on electricity, Little House of the Prairie days really didn't know what they were missing. I was very happy I  got my laundry done just before the power went out. It was interesting getting back to my cabin with it, but I managed. Now Jennifer and I are in Jonesboro, AR on our way to Alabama. We were planning a short trip and leaving Wednesday for a conference and to do some other fun activities. . . SHOPPING!  Even though we took off early, at least we have power now (back home still does not). Hopefully upon our return things will be back to normal. Our drive was really cool. The roads were great but the trees had so much ice on them they were bending clear over. It looked like a tornado went through with so many trees and branches down.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas to celebrate Jesus's birth and spend time with family. Merry Christmas!!

Family

By the way the boat dock is floating now. Besides a few bent places it looks pretty good.

I was given the below questioner and thought it would be fun, so below are my answers:

'Tis the Season to be NICE!
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?   Gift bags because you can use them again and it’s less work!

2. Real tree or artificial?    An artificial that looks real

3. When do you put up the tree? Either right after Thanksgiving or slightly before.

4. When do you take the tree down?  Beginning of January, but that is very sad day.

5. Do you like eggnog?  It is ok. Can take it or leave it, and I usually leave it.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?   Hmm I loved them all!

7. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, a small one that was carved by a family in Jerusalem and made from Olive wood.

8. Hardest person to buy for? My dad-guys are just hard in general. I know nothing about fishing stuff or tools!

9. Easiest person to buy for?  Besides me it would be my mom. (who doesn’t buy something for themselves while Christmas shopping?)

10. Mail or email Christmas cards  This year I’ve emailed them. Sorry everyone.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received. I don’t remember-guess that is good.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?  I love Christmas movies but get bored seeing a movie more than once or twice. So no real favorites.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?  November sometime.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I probably did but am not confessing now.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Cookies and sweets.

16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? Clear lights usually.

17. Favorite Christmas song(s)? There is too many to write down.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Go home to Iowa!!

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers? Yes while singing Rudolph

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?  Christmas day.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year?   Traffic!

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Currently I like the cabin/lake theme.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?  Turkey

HAVE A VERY MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
